Me and my Lyme is an art project about living with Lyme, a chronic disease. The idea of this project is to use art ( ) as a tool of communication in the interest of creating awareness about a disease, to expose what it means to live with it as well as the waste of medical supplies.
To this end I decided to use recycled materials, such as the multiple medical supplies packaging from a treatment and, in order to create pieces of art that show an esthetic that invites the spectator to wonder about the meaning of each piece and its connection with the disease.

The pieces, part of this series, are objects that symbolize the daily life of my "marriage with the Lyme".

*Lyme disease is an infection caused by a spirochete that humans can get from the bite of an infected deer tick. Lyme disease is called “The Great Imitator” because its symptoms mimic many other diseases.
Lyme disease has been found on every continent except Antarctica. It is found all across the United States, with a particularly high incidence in the east, Midwest, and west coast. It seems to be spreading.
